Current hair products I’m using

current hair products
Hiya friends! The last time I talked about my hair care routine was in May last year. So I thought it’s time to give an update on the current hair products I’m using. Just wanted to quickly say that at the time of taking this photo (6 weeks ago), I have only just received Kelapa Shampoo and Conditioner in the mail. The reason why I had to take photos first is because once you leave it in the shower, the packaging gets kind of gross and it doesn’t look good in photos anymore. As a blogger we always strive to better our photos so most of us always take photos before we actually use it. Pheww..glad I got that out of the way, just in case you were wondering why the bottles were still full.

Kelapa Organics Shampoo and Conditioner

Kelapa Organics’ is Australian Certified Organic, vegan and vegetarian friendly. They are also made and owned in Australia. The products are free from sodium lauryl sulphate, synthetic fragrances, artificial preservatives, artificial colours and parabens. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) is the stuff that helps shampoo lather and although this shampoo is free of SLS, it still lathers quite decently. Both the shampoo and conditioner are formulated with organic coconut oil and argan oil to help nourish and protect the hair. After 6 weeks of using this, my hair is tangle-free and incredibly soft.

Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil

I got the Shu Uemura hair oil from a blogging event I was invited to sometime last week. Prior to the event, I didn’t know much about their hair care range. Shu Uemura are well known for their eyelashes and oil cleansers, they also have an amazing range of skincare too! The Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil is seriously a great product. It feels luxurious and light on my hair. I use it mostly on my ends and sometimes work through my head. I’ve used it on wet and dry hair, both works just as well.

Kerastase Touche Perfection

The Kerastase Touche Perfection was featured on my post last year. This is a much loved product but I did stop using it for almost half a year and found it in my beauty cabinet a couple of months ago. It gives my dry bits an extra something.

Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Masque

I love using hair masks once a week and this one is seriously good. I usually leave it on for 5-10mins while I’m showering. It leaves my hair super soft and bouncy. I almost forgot to mention how amazing this masque smells, actually all Aveda products smells this amazing.

GHD Heat Protect Spray

The GHD Heat Protect Spray was also featured on my post last year. I love the black sleek packaging and it fits perfectly in my hands. It’s a super lightweight spray and the scent is not annoying. I think I’m up to my 3rd or 4th bottle now, it’s that great! One bottle will last me a year and it’s about $22 purchased online.

Toni & Guy Cleanse Dry Shampoo

Washing my hair is a chore to me. Sometimes if I’m feeling ultra lazy, I can go without washing my hair for 5 days straight with the help of my trusty Toni & Guy Cleanse Dry Shampoo. The husband thinks I’m gross haha but seriously I really can’t be bothered. This dry shampoo smells amazing. Every time I use it, feels like I’ve just stepped out of the hairdresser.  Can you believe it leaves no white residual??? Spray and spray and nothing!!

So tell me how often do you wash your hair?

Kelapa products were provided for consideration and Shu Uemura hair oil was part of a goodie bag. It has not influenced my opinion in anyway. The rest of the other products were purchased by moi.

Hair care routine and products

Now that my exam is out of the way, I am back dear readers!!! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Today I wanted to talk about my hair care routine and products. Although it does change a lot, this is what I have been loving the past one and a half months.

Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo & Conditioner – This stuff is amazing. My hair is left soft, silky and tangle-free. After a month of using this, I found that my hair doesn’t get oily as quickly and I can wash my hair every 4-5 days.

My current hair routine

Lush Roots – As reviewed here. I love how Roots leaves my scalp feeling cool and refreshed. I’ve been using this once every fortnight and if my hair is feeling really flat, I use it once a week. I’m getting really addicted to Lush products.

Kerastase Touche Perfection – This is a balm for people like me with dry ends. It helps to quickly add moisture to the ends of my hair. Some mornings I wake up having really dry ends so I whip out my Touche Perfection and my hair is looking healthy again.

Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment – I use this after I wash my hair and before I blow dry. I wait for my hair to dry a little and then slather my hair in this treatment. If you see me with shiny hair, it’s all thanks to Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment.

My current hair routine

GHD Heat Protect Spray – This is one of my favourite heat protectant sprays. Whenever I blow dry or curl my hair, this is what I use.

Indola Innova Wonder Blow-Dry – As you all probably know that my hair is fairly long and it takes me forever to blow dry. So when I was offered a chance to try Wonder Blow-Dry, I was pretty excited…a product that speeds up the blow-dry process? Yes please! After using it for a month, I can safely say that it does help to speed up the blow drying process by about 5-10mins. The spray does smell like alcohol and I’m guessing that’s what is helping my hair dry faster.

Tell me what’s one hair product you been loving lately?

Some products were provided for consideration and some were from goodie bags. This has not influenced my opinion in anyway.

How to create soft curls with a ghd

Happy Sunday everyone!! Today I will show you how to create soft curls with a ghd hair straightener. I had so much fun doing this hair tutorial this afternoon. Special mention to the hubs for helping me take photos, it can get rather awkward trying to hold onto the camera as well as curling my hair.

What you will need:

  • Hair brush
  • Heat protect spray
  • Hair straightener
  • Hair spray (not shown in photos)

Start with freshly washed hair. It doesn’t matter how you blow dry your hair as long as it’s dried before you start to iron it. Before you begin, make sure you brush out any knots in your hair.

This just prevents your hair from moving around.how to create soft curls with a GHD ()1_beautyandthings Take a small section of hair and clamp the ghd against your hair (10cm from your roots). Then twist the ghd about 180 degrees (towards or away from you) as you continue pulling through your hair. To keep your hair in position, ensure you are holding onto the ends of your hair. The thicker the section is, the looser the curl will be. The slower you go the tighter the curls will be. So to create soft curls you will need to have a thicker section. If you don’t like the look of the curl, don’t worry. Wait for your hair to cool down and try again.how to create soft curls with a GHD Continue taking similar sized sections and repeating the process until you have curled all your hair. Now you have soft loose curls! Add some hair spray, this will help make your curls last longer.

Each hair straightener comes with a paddle brush and keep sake box. The RRP of this straightener is $289AUD which is quite a decent price because these babies do last a good while.

Here’s a bit of information straight from the ghd website:

  • Advanced ceramic heater technology for smoother, shinier results
  • Universal voltage for consistent performance when travelling
  • Smooth black plates with a hint of sparkle for snag-free styling
  • Contoured plates for easier curls and waves
  • Extra long 2.7m swivel cord for freedom during styling

You can check out more ghd stylers  or hair tutorials can be found . Overall, using a ghd to curl my hair is quite easy. I have done it for many years. If you have just recently started to curl your hair with a ghd, it does take a bit of practice but you will eventually get the hang of it. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment below. 🙂

I was provided the products for review purposes. This has not influenced my opinion.
