5 Night Time Routines

My 5 Night Time Routines

I was pretty bored Saturday night sitting in front of my laptop, trying to think of a blog topic to write about. And yes, I don’t go out Saturday nights. I enjoy being at home with my dog haha I often wonder how people my age (people in their 30’s) party it up every weekend. If you are one of those people, tell me how you do it?? Anyway, I was thinking about a topic I could discuss and trying to avoid another product review today so I realised that I’ve never talked about my night time routine before.

This is pretty much what I do every night without a doubt:

Cleanse face & brush my teeth

Before going to bed, a must for me is facial cleansing and teeth brushing. For face cleansing, I first start off with an oil cleanser and then a foam cleanser just to make sure all my makeup is removed throughly. Right now I’m using Dermalogica Precleanse then followed by La-Roche Posay Sensi White Foam Cleanser. I dunno if it’s because I’m a bit OCD but brushing is super important to me as well. I feel like if I don’t brush, my mouth will be filled with disgusting bacteria when I wake up the following morning.

Wear my mouth splint/mouth guard

Not sure if you guys know this about me but for the last 5 to 6 years, I permanently wear a mouth splint to sleep. If you don’t know what a mouth splint is, it’s to prevent teeth grinding. I’m like the biggest teeth grinder on the face of the planet.

Use eye drops

The reason why I can’t wear contact lenses very often is because my eyes are naturally really dry. I’ve only recently started using eye drops before bed and I find that if I put some drops in before bed, my eyes feel more refreshed the following morning. My mum has been telling me to consider lasik eye surgery but the thought of my eyeball being sliced open scares the sh*t out of me.

A few sips of water before I sleep

I know some people avoid water before bed because it causes puffiness in the face but I need my liquids. The mouth splint that I wear really dries my mouth so I must have some water just before bed.

Moisturise my hands

I have a tube of hand cream on my bed side table and just before bed I like to moisturise my hands. It’s actually the best time to moisturise hands as you won’t wash it off for 7hrs+. Right now I’m using Aveeno Intense Relief hand cream, it does a pretty good job at keeping my hands nice and moisturised. This one is almost done but will definitely buy another tube.

What’s your bed time routine?

2013 Favourite Beauty Products

2013 favourite beauty products 2013 favourite beauty products

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!! Today I’m going to share a round up of my 2013 favourite beauty products. Some of these products I’ve used all year and some just recently made it on to my list.

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 & 2 – I purchased the Naked Palette 1 & 2 back in November 2012. I’m still using both palettes every week. They are travel friendly and very versatile palettes. I haven’t purchased the NP3 yet but hoping to do so after the New Year.
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – This is the ultimate powder, nothing else compares to it. I recently purchased this in the US. The ambient lighting powder is a finishing power that also helps blur imperfections. It actually made my pores less visible!
  • Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner – Best eyeliner I’ve used in a long time! Stays on all day, doesn’t feather and no smudging!
  • NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Punjab* – This foundation received so much positive reviews on blogs and YouTube so I had to try it myself. It has turned into my favourite foundation as it completely covers up my redness and lasts all day long. Although the foundation says sheer, it is medium coverage. Only downside is that it doesn’t come with a pump which has to be purchased separately.
  • NARS Blush in Orgasm* – I wrote about NARS Orgasm Blush in June and I’m still loving it to this day. It is a beautiful peachy pink colour with golden shimmers.
  • Lancome Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate – I purchased the Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate when I was in the US. At the time, I had really dry flaky skin. The lady at the Lancome counter recommended me this to incorporate into my skin care routine. First day I used it, my skin felt smoother (so that was a good sign). Progressively throughout the week my skin felt clearer and brighter. This serum is quite expensive, but really worth it.
  • Dermalogica Microfoliant – I shared a post on the Dermalogica Microfoliant at the start of the year. My skin is still loving this microfoliant, I haven’t tried anything else.
  • Shiseido The Skincare Eye & Lip Makeup Remover – This is by far my most loved eye & lip makeup remover. I’m sad as it’s nearing the end of the bottle and I won’t be buying another one until I’ve finished a few other makeup removers sitting in my beauty cabinet.

Winter Skincare Favourites

winter skincare favourites
Today I’ll be talking about the winter skincare favourites I use during the cooler months. As the weather changes, I also like to change up my skincare range to match the weather. Here are 6 items I’m loving this winter:

Apivita Express Beauty with Cucumber
In winter, I like to use a hydration mask once a week because my skin doesn’t quite get all the hydration it needs from my moisturiser. I’ve been loving Apivita Express Beauty Masks. They are great if you’re like me who changes new products and are not committed to buying a big bottle that you might use 2 or 3 times. I bought this from Priceline and they came with 2 sachets which are very travel friendly. Each sachet has more than enough to cover your entire face, you can even use a sachet twice but I usually like to apply it on really thick. As the mask is drying, there is a slight cooling sensation, I found it a little strange at the start but I’m actually quite used to it now. My two favourite masks from Apivita are the Prickly Pear and Cucumber.

Neutrogena Body Moisturizer*
I use Neutrogena Body Moisturizer straight after the shower, I find that it absorbs extremely well right after a bath or shower. This product has a mild floral fragrance and I was quite surprised at how amazing it smelled. The following morning when I woke up, my legs were slightly sticky but not too bad. The moisturiser itself really helps to reduce dryness on my arms and legs.

L’Occitane Hand Cream
This is my favourite hand cream for the last few months. I’ve been using this product throughout the day and my hands feel instantly soft and smooth. After I started using it, my hands no longer feel tight or dry. This hand cream is not sticky or greasy (can’t stand slippery hands). I am not surprised that this is one of L’Occitane’s best sellers!

Rosehip Plus Skin Boost Roll on*
I can’t believe someone has finally thought to make a roll on! I used to find the glass bottles quite delicate to handle and they were not travel friendly at all. The compact size of the packaging means it is very travel friendly and you can target specific areas you want such as around the nose and under the eyes. The roll on ball helps control the amount of product that comes out, I know when I used to use the dropper, I used a lot more product than I should have. Rosehip oil is great in winter since it can help reduce dry patches and scars whilst improving skin hydration.

Neutrogena Foot Cream*
I have to admit, I normally don’t really put much effort into my feet. In fact, I don’t really care about them :(. I got onto the Neutrogena Foot Cream when the lovely PR at Neutrogena sent me a care package which contained this product. Ever since I started using it, I’ve been hooked! I use this product when I’m sitting in front of the tv at home after work. It will work better if you put it on right after the shower but I always forget. My heels are not cracked or anything, they are actually in decent condition but in winter they do feel a tad dry. By using a small amount I started to notice my heels feeling softer. As my heels are not cracked, I can’t comment if it will help you with it (sorry). This product is greasy and I would recommend to use it at night and wear a sock so that it helps the product to absorb better.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum*
Dermalogica never fails to impress me, it is one of my all time favourite brands. The Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum is from their Age Smart range. This range helps to prevent premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles. As I’m approaching 30, I really need to start thinking about prevention. Most people start earlier but I was in denial for a while. The serum is light and velvety, and has a matte finish. After using it for a 3 months, I have noticed my complexion being brighter and smoother.

Do you change your skincare routine based on the weather?

Products denoted with * was provided for consideration. I was not obligated to blog about them but chose to because the products are awesome. The L’Occitane Hand Cream was initially provided to me however since finishing the tube, I have purchased another.
