How a Model and Fashion Entrepreneur Spends Her Sundays
There is a lot of activity surrounding New York Fashion Week, with model Lauren Chan having a busy time. Her runway work will include 11 Honoré.
Ms. Chan said that she started the company to improve the lives of women who are feeling excluded from this industry. I want them to be happy.
She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, a national sales manager at Kohler, and their dog, Pepper.

I go to Herbert Von King Park with my husband and dog every day. We walk through the open spaces. My husband likes to joke that Pepper knows how many acorns there are. She is taking inventory. We will stop at Little Roy for coffee on the way home. I always get an almond milk latte. We are not big breakfast people.

I don’t want to check my inbox next. The weekend should be calm. It is a good time to get things done for Henning. There is a lot of operational stuff. I like to look at the customer’s inbox and answer questions. I try to connect with one of my agents to get a feel for what the week ahead will be like for my modeling work. I could be shooting something on my own. Since Covid, that has been a huge part of the job.

If I have a big job coming up, I will go to Joseph’s studio on the Upper East Side. He does facial sculpting. It is a facial massage. If it is sunny, I drive up the F.D.R. I will put on my favorites. It has a lot of ’80s rock. It is a boost in mood. If it sounds like it should be in the third act of a rom-com, then I like it.

I don’t always go straight home. Sometimes I have coffee with a friend. Sometimes I run things. I might stop by the Tailored Industry in Industry City or the JAG Models offices if I need to pick up samples for a shoot. Around 1 my stomach starts growling. Eugene & Co., which is in our neighborhood, is a place Alan and I like to go for a salad. We walked Pepper again.

On Sundays we go to my friend’s for dinner. She is my agent at JAG. Her house is close to us. Matt Gelsomino cooks for us every weekend. He is a wonderful, enthusiastic cook. He usually works on a seafood boil. It could be called family dinner. When we get there, Alan and Matt usually run off to the smoker and I will catch up with my modeling work.

We are usually home by 7 because I like to have a chunk of about three hours to reset for the week so there is no anxiety the next day. I will talk to my family on the phone. They are near Toronto. I will stand in front of the TV. I will watch the previous night’s show on the internet. Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon are my favorites. I have some Sunday night beauty rituals, like putting on an LED face or sheet mask, or guasha, a facial massage with gentle scrapers. I get up at 10. I will put my phone down by 10:30 if I am lucky.
